Marcelo Knobel is a Full Professor at the Gleb Wataghin Physics Institute of the University of Campinas, Unicamp. He was the Vice-President for Undergraduate Programs at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil, from May 2009 to May 2013.

 He is an Eisenhower Fellow (Multi-Nation Program 2007), a Guggenheim Fellow (2009), and Commander of the Order of Scientific Merit (Brazil). He acts a member of the National Assessment of Higher Education Comission, CONAES) and as a board member of "Cultural Vistas".

Marcelo and I met recently at Amcham Campinas The American Chamber of cCmmerce where he made a presentation on the Universities future developments.
